Saying I told you so

... about the Manley report and the fake Al Qaeda fishing expeditions.  Plus the skinny on what was really in that ministry building Israel killed a lot of civilians to demolish, and a message from Fidel Castro on the price of everything including Bush's Epiphany Gift.

(1) Oh, wow, the Manley report is about to be unleashed.  And what a surprise - it's going to recommend staying in Afghanistan. And we paid for that.

Here's what I said in October about the panel compiling this report:
CBC: PM names Manley to head review of Afghan mission
YYC:  The joke is that he calls this panel "non-partisan" and "independent".  Jake Epp is Allcon clear through, and has an interest in pipelines.  Wallin sits on transnational corporate boards, is behind the SPP(NAU) 100%, and advises the Council of the Americas.  Burney and Tellier's credentials as CEOs and Mulroneyites speak for themselves.

John Manley was a Libcon who just too weird to get re-elected and has always fully believed in all of the myths about Al Qaeda, the "war on terror" and the need for Canadians to fight "terrorists" in Afghanistan.
(2) Remember the so-called Al Qaeda website where Al Zawahiri hisself was going to answer questions? Well, so far he ain't talking.  In December (Zap! Did they getcha?) I suggested that it was just another fake Al Qaeda site where questioners may actually provide more information than they receive. If so, the 900 or so folks who bit are being traced through their ISPs.

An avid pro-war website called Strategy Page agrees, under the dubious heading "intelligence", that information about posters is being gleaned at the "Al Qaeda" site.  It's unfortunate for their credibility that they truly believe the site is genuine and are actually gleefully calling it a "Christmas gift from Al Qaeda".

Hard to know why the fans of war are so afeared of the big Q when on the other hand they want to believe it's dumber than joe's dog.

They make it even more difficult to believe the rest of the shills, like this guy named Hamid, a male version of Irshad Manji, who slavishly reinforces Israel's mythical image as a tiny (therefore helpless) country against big enemies on all sides, and has dabbled in the Quran and the Old Testament enough to know that Zionism is a good thing.

"Al-Zawahiri wants to subjugate the whole world to Islamic law," Hamid says.  As if Christianity isn't trying to do something similar, and convert the Jews too!  Give us a break!

(3) An insightful blogger has picked up on some serious irregularities in news reports about Israel's bombing of what it called a Hamas-run ministry building, slaughtering a couple dozen Palestinian civilians in the process.

Thanks to John of Manitoba for sending me the link.

The author rightly suggests that Israel is using the pretext of going after Hamas just to smash stuff up and kill people.  It certainly does appear that Israel is working on a "peace" deadline trying to get as many Palestinians as possible to leave the region or leave the earth, whichever comes first.

(4) Speaking of "Christmas Gifts from Al Qaeda", Fidel Castro writes about an "Epiphany Gift" from Bush.

Thanks to Ana for the link.

Here's a short excerpt:
"Being prepared for the worst is the only way to be prepared for the best.  It seems unreal to see Bush, the conqueror of other peoples' raw materials and energy resources, setting out guidelines for the world careless about how many hundreds of thousands or millions of people die or how many clandestine prisons and torture centers must be created to attain his objectives. "Sixty or more corners of the world" must expect pre-emptive attacks. Let us not shut our eyes; Cuba is one of those dark corners."
Castro nicely drops Bush into the same category as the ancient and completely insane medieval Crusaders.  He also makes a hard point to fathom for people brainwashed into thinking that capitalism is the best system in the world.  It isn't when it morphs into fascism.
