Stunning! One of the year's best examples
of media hype
Every new movie is advertised as one of the year's
stunningest. And that's how Canwest
- "Stunning testimony expected" - is hyping the appearance of
Norman Spector and Allan Rock at the resumption of the ethics probe
into the Mulroney/Schreiber/Harper
scandal.
Remember when Mulroney was bellowing for a public inquiry? Well,
he
isn't now, but Harper has announced that one will begin as soon as the
ethics committee winds up, or runs down, whichever (CBC).
Of course, there's always a chance that an election will get in the
way. Harper is somewhere between Rock and a hard place.
Apparently (Canwest)
Mulroney hired a lobbyist to negotiate personally on his behalf with
Harper, in private. That way Harper can keep on
saying he has severed all contact with Mulroney.
Not really changing the subject, this
is "Super Tuesday" in the States. Will Hillary take New
Jersey? Will she be America's first woman president? Or is
Willie Nelson right that "something" might happen to keep Bush in
office another 10 years?
If so, then my own stunning realization seems slightly less shuddery in
comparison. I don't know where my brain has been, but it's only
recently dawned on me that if Hillary wins, Bill Clinton will be back
in the oval office, this time as First Laddie (WayOdd).
Can anybody imagine him there with his pants zipped up? Oh, yuk!
Bloomberg
has more mights and coulds regarding the 24-state presidential
nominating process, but without the hype. LiveLeak
has a very telling video on Hillary Clinton's convictions prior to the
Iraq war - right in line with those of the Bush bunch. So it's
small wonder that a porn star,
who is happy that the Clintons are porn positive, said recently: "I
think that in some ways she's pretty conservative for a Democrat".
Out of the mouth of a babe.
BlackCommentator
says Obama has "out mush-mouthed" John Kerry on the subject of Iraq.
I doubt there is anybody who won't fall into step with the ongoing
agenda once in office. If there's any hint they won't, they won't
see
office. It's as simple as that. And the winner will say,
"The people
have spoken."
But the names of those people won't any time soon be revealed in
stunning media headlines.
Addendum:
Mohamed
Harkat is back in court
attempting to get bail conditions eased. My prediction is that Judge
Dawson will rule that no breach of conditions occurred, will appoint a
new third surety, but will not allow Harkat to be home alone.
For the Harkat's sake, I hope I'm wrong about that final one, but
Dawson will probably suspect that Harkat wants to ease into getting
hold of a computer and doing gawd nose whut with it.
