The story of, the gory of war ...
(1) Blog2:
Photo Report of today's participation in the Global anti-war protest.
(2) The
Bullet: Afghanistan: Why Canada should withdraw its
troops
It may seem a little late for an article such as this
after the vote in
the House yesterday. But the protest must go on; in fact it must
intensify.
The bullet article gives a crystal clear indication, from the viewpoint
of Afghanis, as to what Canadian industry hopes to get out of our
presence in Afghanistan:
It
is hard for Afghans to imagine the Canadian mining industry – the world
leader in mining exploration and exploitation – is not interested in
exploiting Afghanistan’s resources.
(3) Globe
and Mail: [Denis] Ouellet was 'proud to be a soldier'
As
fallen
Canadian's body returns home, speculation builds over what killed him
... The military has given no explanation for the death of the
22-year-old soldier except to say it had nothing to do with combat
operations. Shrouded in secrecy, the death is currently being
investigated by the Canadian Forces National Investigative Service.
Could it be that
those
proudest to be soldiers may become the most disillusioned by the
reality of war? Even if they don't commit deliberate suicide, do
they
drink and/or use drugs to excess in order to escape?
