Can't think of a headline
But
here are some items you might find mildly enlightening
StraightGoods:
Harper's one-man rule
Experienced
observers warn that PM's style undermines support for Conservatives ...
When politicians have differences, they fight it out in Parliament or
on the hustings, not in a court of law. The episode suggests Harper can
dish out abuse but he's not big enough to take it.
YYC:
Nah, that's not it. Litigation at the drop of a
discouraging word is the American way. Hail to the chief, eh?
Ha'aretz:
Yesha rabbinical council chief: Don't rent houses to Arabs
YYC: I always think of rabbis like this when I hear all
Muslims being smeared by the actions of one crazy mullah. (Thanks to Ron for the link)
Then there's guys like this:
Rev.
Jeremiah Wright (YouTube)
There are plenty of video clips to choose from. Not sure what he
means
specifically by "God damn America", but the talking heads were as quick
to call him "anti-American" as they are anybody who dares criticize US
foreign or internal policy - which is what Wright did quite thoroughly.
The Repugs think he
is their ticket to victory (CBS)
I
don't
believe 9/11 was God's punishment for America's sin, but Wright should
not be called anti-American for saying so. Jerry Falwell said the
exactly the same thing and nobody thought him anti-American. That's
probably because he blamed gays instead of pointing the finger where it
belonged.
CounterCurrents:
How To Get Out Of Iraq
The insurgency in Iraq is primarily an armed resistance to U.S.
occupation, not sectarian violence ... Iraqi public opinion
overwhelmingly favors a decisive withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq.
YYC:
In that first line you could substitute Afghanistan for Iraq and speak
a similar truth. Don't listen to Bush going on about how removing
Saddam was the right thing to do, as if that's all that was done to
Iraq. What else would you expect him to say?
