That's entertainment *
From hot plots teeming with sex to clowns with their pants
falling down, it's all designed to distract
"The plot can be hot, simply teeming with sex ..."
It's hard to imagine why France keeps taking
Brigitte Bardot to court for her views about Muslims. This
is the fifth time
and so far she's received only a suspended sentence and a fine she can
probably afford. So where's the "correction" component of this
law?
Think about it - how seriously would you take anything I said if you
knew that I was an aged, has-been, busty blonde bombshell? The
fact
that I'm a somewhat elderly woman, however intelligent and not overly
busty I may be, is probably reason enough for some people to ignore me.
So now we know that Bardot is not only superficial she is also mean and
nasty. Nothing is going to correct that, nor is there any
punishment
devised that will be greater than losing to old age her only claim to
fame. I mean, there's only so far that collagen injections can
take a
girl.
They're as much a waste of time and expense as the laws that govern
speech. I mean, if you can't take advantage of a security
certificate
to get somebody deported like they did Zundel, then you've got rid of
absolutely nothing.
Instead, every child should be taught the sticks and stones maxim,
along with the concept of equal rights for all peoples. That's another
sad loss for Bardot - whoever raised her didn't care what kind of human
being she turned out to be.
Meanwhile, you'll be shocked to learn that Pope Benedict's staff could
use a few lessons in courtesy and diplomacy:
A
small
group of prominent Islamic scholars recently stood at the airport in
Rome, waiting to be picked up. But no one showed up. Instead, the
academics had to find their own way to the Vatican, where they had been
invited to attend a meeting to establish a "Catholic-Muslim Forum."
Well, they were
no
Brigitte Bardot, eh? And the Pope is noted for his slip-ups in regards
to Islam anyway. Still, I'm not too impressed that the building
of a
church in Saudi Arabia hinges on how many more gaffes may or may not be
made by the Vatican.
Either allow a
church
for the sake of the principle of religious freedom or don't
bother. I
doubt there's any god that gives a hoot in Hades for bargaining chips.
By the way, did
you know that you, personally, can make the Pope say anything you
want?
But maybe we shouldn't be too critical. Apparently Pope Benedict
is a sweetheart compared to his coming successor - a
devil from the bottomless pit.
Well, that was fun. Not to change the subject, but did you hear
that
Calgary West MP Rob Anders has accused China of being the "worst
human rights abuser in the world"?
Well, I knew there was some sort of competition going on, but the
Conservatives will have to get a majority if they want to beat China in
the abuse department.
Anders, and a few others, are going straight to the Dalai Lama - not
for spiritual instruction, of course, but to find out just how cultural
genocide is carried out.
"Or the scene where the villain is mean...'
They could have learned from Israel but then they'd have to think about
the Palestinians, wouldn't they? Meanwhile, Israel keeps crying
victim
all the while it invades with tanks that spew flechettes from
air-burst missiles wherever and whenever, slaughtering
journalists and children just because they're there,
apparently. Here's
the video taken by the journalist just before the deadly
schrapnel felled him.
I can see now why the Israelis make such a big deal over the nails
embedded in the homemade bombs used by suiciders. It's a good
distraction from their own, more deadly darts.
Here at
home, members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers must somehow have
learned lessons that the Vatican and a famous film star seem to have
missed. After only an hour's
discussion, CUPW passed a resolution that
"recognizes
Israel as an apartheid state and expresses CUPW’s support for boycott
and divestment from Israel. It was passed almost unanimously after
nearly one hour of discussion on the convention floor."
Read more about
it
and don't forget to tell the person who delivers your snail mail and
the clerk at the post office how much you admire their courage and
compassion.
One can certainly understand why MP Rob Anders prefers to learn about
deadly
suppression at the knee of the Dalai Lama - even though the man has not
lived in the region for a long, long time.
He needs to know how the Chinese have been getting away with it,
because merely arresting "homegrown terrorists" is not cutting it with
Canadians. Hardly anybody but CSIS believes we're surrounded by
bad
guys. And now four
more have been freed. As if the rest of us couldn't see that coming
a mile off.
One of the lawyers said out loud what we've all been thinking:
"This
prosecution has a political agenda. This is Canada's way of showing
that we're fighting the war on terror."
"The clown
with his pants falling down ..."
CSIS may be a seedy outfit, but they sees their
duty and
they does it no matter how fictional the plot. They're naturals
in the
role of the Keystone cops.
But so far they're only intimidating Muslims. I'm sure they're
eager to get at the rest of us.
Speaking of screw-ups with jobs - what a circus the
FBI is turning out to be over its terrorists cases:
Counterterrorism
officials in FBI headquarters slowed an investigation into a possible
conspirator in the 2005 London bombings by forcing a field agent to
return documents acquired from a U.S. university. Why? Because the
agent received the documents through a lawful subpoena, while
headquarters wanted him to demand the records under the USA Patriot
Act, using a power the FBI did not have, but desperately wanted.
Huh?
"The clerk who is thrown out of work by the boss..."
And then there's our cheesecake cops, the RCMP. A
convenient, sole culprit has been found in their pension fraud
case.
Barbara George's lawyer, however, is
confident she will be exonerated,
so will appreciation to the government be shown by not finding anything
incriminating at Conservative Party HQ? Or are the RCMP just as
erratic and disconnected as the FBI?
Corrupt policing agencies are generally encouraged by corruption in
government. From the Halifax Chron
Herald:
Three
Halifax-area ridings are involved in the so-called in-and-out scandal
that led to two RCMP raids on Conservative party headquarters in Ottawa
this week that have embarrassed the government of Prime Minister
Stephen Harper.
During the
2006
election campaign, the local Conservative campaigns in Halifax, Halifax
West and Dartmouth-Cole Harbour participated in a national scheme to
cycle money from the national campaign through local riding
associations to allow the party to buy more national advertising.
And their answer
is that everybody else does the same thing! How grown-up is that,
eh?
The Libcons will chew on it for a while to give the impression they
think differently from the Allcons, but it looks like yet another piece
of entertainment provided as a public service to the taxpayer.
"The world is a stage, the stage is a world of
entertainment."
