Update:
I emailed this article to the Ottawa Sun (among others) and it was
rejected because the spam filter found a bad word in it. The
Ottawa
Sun must be in the dark about a lot of things!
YayaCanada banned in Halifax airport
I received the following in an email from a travelling
fellow activist this morning:
"The strangest thing happened this morning in Halifax airport; they
have a free wireless service inside the US customs area, so I did some
surfing and decided to visit yaya and update myself on the latest from
Ottawa. I was shocked to see this notice pop up instead of the
yaya
page;
"Halifax Stanfield International Airport
"Acess to this webpage is restricted
"http://www.yayacanada.com/
"You are seeing this page because the webpage you are trying to access
contains material that does not comply with this hotspot's Terms of
Use. The reason given by the content filter is Banned phrase
found.
"If you think this is not correct, please go back and check the link or
url you requested. You may have mistyped the URL of the website.
"So, I did go back to check...again...and one more time...and yup...it
is confirmed! yaya is banned from this hotspot. You
go girl!"
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to "The
True North Strong and Free". It's probably because I used
the word "penis"
a couple of days ago. At least I hope that's all it is.
Charlie
McVety wouldn't like to see that word, for sure. He probably
undresses
in the dark too.
You might be interested in this video on Bill
C-10. Charlie plays the leading role (but the host does a
good job of protesting the bill).
You'll see from the video that Charlie loves thinking about smut, and
talking about it. He just doesn't like his taxes paying for it -
he
wants to get it for free. If I used a couple of the words he uses
in
this video, I'd be banned in Halifax forever!
This guy should be watched, because he is surrounded every day by young
students at his Christian College
and his mind is on sex most of the time. I bet he feels real sexy
in his fancy robe.
But if one child is saved from knowing that boys have penises, and that
they shouldn't panic about it, then the airport's work is done.
Halifax is not the only airport doing this. For example, Denver
blocks "provocative" and "potentially racy" sites.
Not because they care about kids, but because they don't want to have
to "handle angry parents". Apparently, parents aren't the ones
responsible for protecting their own kids nowadays.
"Critics
say the airport is using the same technology used by repressive regimes
in Sudan and Kuwait."
It's a kinder,
gentler world out there. Have you noticed?
