It's always the young
The
tragedies of Omar Khadr and Momin Khawaja, and in brief: Bil'in sues
Canuck firms, Israel's idea of "truce", holy holograms, Batman! and
growing second thoughts about Obama
I learn more great songs this way. I dream up a title for my screed and then I Google "lyrics + my title". Today's song "I ain't marching anymore" hits the nail so hard on the head I'm flabbergasted.
"It's
always the old to lead us to the war, It's always the young to fall,
Now look at all we've won with the sabre and the gun, Tell me is it
worth it all"
When are we going to stop sacrificing our young to the dogs of war? What
kind of parent, government, or "security" agency, can possibly find
pride in that? It's a perversion of all that's natural - the
instinct to protect our offspring.
When
I think of the 15 year old Omar Khadr I feel like crying. But as I keep
saying, he's not that boy anymore. And nothing in the quotes below
contradict my very strong feeling that he's theirs now - a CIA
asset. When a person is deprived of sleep and/or in shock of any kind
they are ripe for brainwashing. And anyone who thinks the CIA weren't
just getting started when they used Canadians for brainwashing experiments in the 50s and 60s would make a good candidate.
Lawyers, advocates dispute Harper claim of 'no real alternative' on Khadr (CP)
The
air force report also notes that Arab inmates at the base picked on
Khadr after interviews with investigators. Foreign Affairs' head of
foreign intelligence described Khadr in one report as a "screwed up"
young man. "All those persons who have been in positions of authority
over him have abused him and his trust for their own purposes"
Why
would Arab inmates "pick on" Khadr after he'd been to his
interviews? Maybe because they couldn't trust him? Maybe they
deduced
he was getting some sort of special treatment? What is the term
"screwed up" a euphemism for? And what were "their own
purposes"? Plenty is being implied here without coming out and
saying it.
As
to whether or not Khadr should be brought back home, it won't happen as
long as our government is so hell bent on cooperating with the US on
"security" issues and selling off our country. But should it happen, I hope we have some good deprogrammers at the ready.

And then there's Momin Khawaja (underlining mine):
Remote detonator a 'custom' job, Mountie tells terror trial
Mohammed
Babar, a former al-Qaida operative turned police informer, has also
testified that he believed Khawaja was trying to find a way to deliver
explosives by mounting them on a radio-controlled model airplane. A
disassemblemodel plane was found in the Khawaja home by the RCMP. But Fiset said he never uncovered any evidence
that it was linked to the work on the Digimonster, and McKercher
acknowledged the Crown won't be pressing that point any further.
In
Khawaja's home was found a circuit board with an antenna that the
police acknowledge is a remote control device (with a very limited
range it turns out).
And in the same vicinity was a model
airplane. Fiset says he never uncovered any evidence the toy was linked
to the circuit board, which he says is a detonator. He hasn't any
evidence that it wasn't linked to the circuit board, either. Or any evidence that the circuit board was linked to a bomb plot.
Probably
the Crown backed off Babar's fantasy of using model planes to transport
explosives when it finally sunk in how many of them you'd need in order
to transport 600 tons of fertilizer!
I bet you could actually smell the fertilizer in that courtroom!
No
doubt they're sorry the model plane was ever mentioned, since it gives
another possible purpose for the circuit board - recreational, not
destructional. This is the risk you take, though, with paid liars, who
might decide to give 110% to their task.
Everything else that
Babar says amounts to hearsay, and those emails could have been sent by
anyone and/or interpreted any which way from Sunday.
Here's a chuckle for you, if it weren't so pathetically dimwitted:
High-security terror trial puts jail safety in spotlight (Canwest)
"When
you look at the security around the courthouse, the snipers on the roof
and guards all around the place and then you look at where he's being
housed ... it's a real security risk," Mr. Lundy said.
Mr.
Lundy doesn't seem to be aware he is pointing out that this is a "show
trial". The fact that the same "security" is not on display at the jail
proves it.
=====================
Briefly:
Palestinian village sues Canadian companies (CTV)
They
say the companies are building a neighbourhood on property that Israel
seized after the 1967 war -- an action that is contrary to the Geneva
Convention. The new construction apparently cuts local Palestinians off
from nearly half the village.
What can I say except "Go Bil'in!"
Israel Cracks Down on Hamas in the West Bank (GlobalSecurity)
This is what is called a truce - where Hamas must not use violence while Israel continues to.

Seized holograms lead to charges (CP)
Officers
with the Canada Border Services Agency conducted a random search at the
Ottawa Air Cargo Centre in mid-June and found illegal copies of
Ontario's holographic design. The holographs are used on Ontario
driver's licences and health cards and can be used to create fake ID
cards.
Oh boy, does this ever make me want my driver's licence microchipped - you know, to protect my identity ... NOT.
Speaking
of that - my landlord wants all the residents to use microchipped cards
to pay for the use of the laundry facilities. To do LAUNDRY, for crying
out loud!
I'm already looking into how much those little
apartment sized washers cost, and my sister-in-law gave me a nifty rack
to hang clothes to dry on. Think of the energy I'll save - not to
mention aggravation and a further loss of privacy..

Seems I'm no longer alone in thinking that Barack Obama may be just another tool of the big machine:
