No One is Illegal - Solidarity across Borders marchers from Montreal to Ottawa arrive at their final destination in Ottawa - Minto Park on Elgin Street - June 25, 2005.

I'm told a delegation did manage to get a brief, polite audience at the Immigration Minister's office where they were informed that any answers to their demands would be forthcoming by mail.  I'm also told the speeches given by the refugees on Parliament Hill were an uplifting inspiration to the activists.

It was a hot, hazy day, and the sun was strong, so I waited for the marchers in the shade of Minto Park.  Even the people who had only joined them at Parliament Hill for a couple of hours, then trekked down Elgin Street with them, arrived at the park in sunburned condition, and looking just as pooped as the marchers.

So, basically what you are going to see here is a lot of hot, tired heroes.  Without any further comment, I'm just going to let you gawk at them.

Comment:

I have great respect and admiration for those who made this trek in beastly heat.  I also have great UNrespect and contempt for the media who chose to ignore this event.  We want and need changed policies; we want to bring about this change non-violently, by such actions as this dramatic march.  How long will it take before the media realize that what the PEOPLE have to say is as important as the words and (mis)deeds of politicians, business people, or sports and entertainment celebrities.
