Note from YYC: It was a cloudy,
slightly misty evening, and I'm sorry to say that a number of my photos
did not turn out well. Below is a small sampling of the events of
the evening.
| An evening of music and
poetry, interspersed with
political updates from some key supporters was held at the Human Rights
Monument,

A nice crowd of local
supporters of the Secret Trial Five turned out to an evening of talks
and entertainment. |
Alex
Trudeau was on hand
with his camera man to film the event as part of his upcoming
documentary on Mohamed Harkat,
and Monia
Mazigh, who ran for MP in Ottawa South on the NDP ticket in the
last federal election and who is also the wife of Maher Arar,
attended and gave a short talk. Sophie Harkat chatted with them
before the event got underway.

Some people who just
can't sit still were busy talking to passersby, handing out pamphlets
and getting the petition
signed.
|
Mohamed Harkat's
Canadian family were out in full force. His mother-in-law spoke
briefly about
how she missed Moe and about the injustice that has put him behind
bars, and then she treated everyone to a few delightful jazz pieces on
the piano.

Towards
the end of the evening, we were treated to some excellent folk
music. This duo is part of a group that calls itself "Vanity
Press". I'm sure you will be hearing more of them.
In Montreal, a
vigil was held outside Paul Martin's office. This
photo was taken by Ron Saba of Montreal Planet
